Next week, the Kyiv City State Administration will start to design new sewer siphons networks, head of the KCSA Oleksandr Popov said during the offsite meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
He said that seven siphon networks, laid across the Dnipro River, have operated since 1966.
"It is good that they are used for such a long time, but we definitely need to decide on the construction of new ones. Last year, I issued a decree on design of new networks," Popov said.
According to Popov, there is no reason to worry about existing inverted siphons, as they all work in the project mode, but the new ones should be a backup version.
At the same time, Popov did not rule out that due to the long useful life may result in leaching from under the siphons, which can lead to an accident.
"Last year we had a tender in which we need to provide funding of 10 million UAH. I'll do everything to find half of these funds in the near future. Next week there will be a meeting with the designers," he said.
