Up to UAH 700 million is envisaged in the state budget for the implementation of the president's social initiatives for children this year, First Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Iryna Akimova has said, Interfax informs.

"The total amount for 2013 will be about UAH 650-700 million, depending on the date of the introduction of certain measures. There will also be a certain amount from local budgets," she said at a briefing in the presidential administration on Monday.

"These funds that are feasible for our budget could be planned during the revision of the budget, and we could start introducing these measures in 2013, without waiting for 2014," Akimova said.
Akimova said that local budgets would bear a significant portion of expenditures on such social initiatives as the development of sports facilities, a network of out-of-school educational institutions and academic competitions in summer schools.

"With regard to the most budget-relevant measures, this is the growth of state assistance to low-income families in terms of reducing the gap between the living wage and a guaranteed level of the living wage, this measure in 2013 is estimated at about UAH 350 million," she said.

In addition, she said that about UAH 27 million was envisaged for measures related to care for children with disabilities, about UAH 13 million for the guardianship of children with disabilities and about UAH 30 million for the provision of children with disabilities with the necessary means of rehabilitation.
