Snow thawing in Ukraine will last for 10-15 days, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov supposed at the meeting with public activists, who set up a system of warning and response to snowfall consequences, ForUm correspondent reports.

"There are some optimistic forecasts, which suggest that melting will not be instantaneous and fast, as we won’t have high temperature. Therefore, there won’t be a sharp warming," he predicted.
At the same time, the Prime Minister proposed public activists to help the operational headquarters of the State Emergency Service in the event of flood.

"We will have to go through a rather complicated situation, related to floods. We take all possible technical measures, delivering about 70 pumping stations to Kyiv. They will be installed and are installed now in places of possible flooding in the streets. There will be deployed the most powerful pumps, which helped Poland in due time," Azarov said.

According to him, social activists and volunteers can also join the process of liquidation of consequences of natural disaster.

"We need help rather in calming people down than in some technical terms. Now certain panic is spread," the head of the government said.

The Prime Minister added that around the clock information service of the State Emergency Service will work during the period of high water to receive signals from the citizens and volunteers. It will inform people about the current situation in Ukraine.

However, Azarov expressed hope that melting snow will not result in serious consequences.
