Dnipro high water level to be above norm

The maximum level of high water on the Dnipro River is expected to be 20-25% higher than the normal rates.

This was stated by vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul during nationwide conference call on actions of the central and local government authorities relating to combating flooding of settlements.
He noted that the necessary amount of free storage reservoir totaling more than 6.6 billion cubic meters of water is created for receiving water during the peak period of the flood passage.

 

According to the vice PM, this measure will ensure the smooth functioning of the Dnipro cascade hydropower stations and prevent flooding.

In particular, according to Vilkul, the amount of additional reservoirs in the Kyiv water storage basin is more than 700 million cubic meters of water, in the Kremenchug - 4.4 billion, Kakhovka - 1.2 billion, the Kanev water storage basin - 300 million.

Currently, the water level in all the districts of rapid response is constant monitored.
