The government should step up efforts to provide the population with high-quality and affordable medicines, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), the President’s press service informs.
However, according to Yanukovych, the task is accomplished very slowly. "We expected that the situation will change much more dynamic and quickly than it is now," he noted. "People are sensitive to this issue. The measures, taken by the government in this direction, are not sufficient,” the President said.
The President stressed the need to intensify the work. "The topic of quality and availability of drugs has now become a very resonant one. Therefore, today we will have a principled and frank discussion on this issue," he added.
The President also reminded of the need for approval of requirements for manufacturing and quality control of medicines in accordance with the standards of the European Union.
