Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov requires all departments to provide adequate preparation for snow melting after the disaster, he said during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"It is obvious today that the disaster, which brought unprecedented mass of snow, sets special conditions for flood preparation. The snow will start melting soon. There is a threat of large floods and possible flooding of settlements. And this threat must be minimized in advance," the Prime Minister noted.

He demanded that the government and regional headquarters continue to work until the water is gone.

Now, according to Azarov, it is necessary to focus on the removal of snow from the settlements and prepare to protect them from flooding.

He instructed the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, Regional Development, Construction and Housing Ministry and State Water Agency to ensure smooth operation of emergency systems and operational reliability of hydraulic structures and pumping stations.
