Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Mr. Bogdan Borusewicz and chairman of the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic Mr. Vydas Gedvilas expressed support for Ukraine on its way to the European Union, the Ukraine’s Parliament press service informs.
"Ukraine can count on the support of Poland," Mr. Borusewicz said, speaking at the opening of the V meeting of the Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland and the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic in Warsaw on Tuesday.
He, in particular, stressed that "the political reality of Eastern Europe is very important for Europe as a whole, and the introduction of mechanisms of convergence of Eastern and Central Europe is important today both from the trade-economic point of view and in human dimension".
Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland considers important unity of efforts in the fight against modern threats, strengthening military cooperation, joint search for provision energy security, which, he said, is the real guarantee of security of any state.
The leaders of the Polish and Lithuanian Parliaments noted the "common will of many political forces in Ukraine to the European integration course."
Mr. Gedvilas noted that the ultimate goal of the Assembly is the implementation of the European aspirations of Ukraine - the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
