The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a plan to implement the National Program of adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation to the European Union legislation in 2013. The relevant government’s order defines central the authorities, responsible for carrying out the relevant tasks and sets deadlines for their execution, the Justice Ministry press service informs.

According to the justice minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the document, in particular, provides for 58 measures to pass the regulations, which are aimed at adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation to the EU legislation and are identified in the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of March 12, 2013 on urgent measures for the European integration of Ukraine.

In particular, the tasks relate to adoption of legislation, provided for by the Action Plan for the liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukraine. The tasks are also touch upon the implementation of measures to ensure the necessary conditions for the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2013.

"Among the top performers of these activities are the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Justice Ministry," the statement says.

In addition, taking into account the tasks, the Healthcare Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Economic Development Ministry, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, the Central Election Commission, the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Penitentiary Service and other agencies are involved in their implementation.

The Justice Ministry is assigned to continuously monitor the implementation of the plan.

"Implementation of the plan will secure systematic and consistent process of adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation to the EU legislation within the performance of obligations, including those, which may be assigned to Ukraine after the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU," the Justice Ministry informs.
