As of today, the most important thing is to provide snow removal, as for the last few days a record snowfall has dropped. In some places the snow cover is more than 60 centimeters, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at the Cabinet’s meeting on March 25, the Cabinet’s press service informs.
According to him, the most difficult situation remains in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
"The situation is really difficult, as a significant amount of precipitation fell. However, in such circumstances it is necessary, first of all, to provide the coherence of all the services, the ability of managers to make decisions quickly, to take responsibility," Azarov said.
He noted that it is necessary to admit that utilities of the capital alone are not able to cope with this problem quickly, because Kyiv has not enough available technique for such a large scale of work.
Therefore, the government today has decided to involve into work clearing and snow removal trucks and loaders of state enterprises and construction organizations. It also appealed to all the private businesses, which have the appropriate equipment, with a proposal to engage in this work.
The Kyiv City State Administration allowed using tow trucks to move vehicles, which occupy the roadway and impede snow removal.
Government agencies, enterprises and organizations, universities and colleges are instructed to clear their premises - it's almost a third of the work to be done.
"I want to thank for the work to all those, who in these days have provided public activity of Kyiv. In general, I estimate the work at "C” grade. However, ambulances have worked, products have been delivered in hospitals, etc. Thank God, no one died, have not been frozen. It’s just happiness in such extreme conditions," Azarov said.
The Prime Minister said that there were failures, but they were quickly resolved.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to all those who worked in conditions of bad weather - public utilities, transport, medical, military, police and emergency departments, all citizens who have joined the fight against the effects of the adverse weather conditions, having understood the complexity of the situation.
