To become a member of the Customs Union, Ukraine must withdraw from the World Trade Organization (WTO) or revise the agreement with the WTO within obligations under the Customs Union, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in an interview with the MIR Russian television channel, UKRINFORM reports.

"Ukraine as an independent state is bound to a number of international agreements. It joined the World Trade Organization before Russia. We have to answer a very simple question: either we get out of the WTO and join the Customs Union or we must revise our agreement on the WTO as part of our commitment to the Customs Union, all this is extremely difficult and unproductive," Azarov declared.

The head of government noted that at the first stage Ukraine will become an observer in the organization and will gradually adapt and adjust to the new format of cooperation with the countries of the Customs Union.
