Ukraine has managed to reduce the infant mortality rate from 9.1 to 8.4 ppm thanks to the health care reform, health minister Rayisa Bohatyriova said during a board of the Health Ministry of Ukraine on the eve of the World Tuberculosis Day, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to her, the lives were saved due to the concentration of all types of medical resources.
As of today, Ukraine has eight perinatal centers of the third level, and the state will not stop to open new centers. We will help to ensure that each region has not only perinatal centers of the third level, but also centers of the second level," Bohatyriova stressed.
In addition, she recalled that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych instructed to provide all maternities and perinatal centers with all necessary medical supplies and staffing.
