Every year, up to 350 children die from classical infections, chief pediatric infectious disease doctor of the Health Ministry of Ukraine Serhiy Kramarev told a press conference "Vaccination of Ukrainians: myths and reality", ForUm correspondent reports.

"Every year, classic infections (whooping cough, measles, smallpox and others. - Ed.) kill 300-350 children in Ukraine, including 100-120 children aged one year and older. More than half of them would not have got sick, if they had been vaccinated timely," he said.

According to Kramarev, classic children's diseases rate the third place after respiratory and skin diseases.

"All countries have their own national vaccination calendars, and Ukraine lags far behind in this issue. Austria has already had vaccines against 17 infections, United States - against 16 and the EU countries - against 13. And we have only ten," he noted.
