Initiative on the participation of the European party in a possible gas transport consortium should come from the Ukraine, and the proposal must be specified in detail, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky said.

"The gas transportation system (GTS) belongs to Ukraine. Therefore, the EU will not come with any proposals as it is the Ukrainian issue, Ukraine should invite the EU ... However, there are no specific proposals," he noted.

The ambassador added that Ukraine should provide full information about the Ukrainian gas transport system and report on compliance with the rules of the European Energy Community.

According to him, the party to such negotiations at this stage may be European Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger, who is in contact with the European gas market operators.
