The European Union notes the positive dynamics in issuing of Schengen visas to Ukrainians, acting director of the press service of the Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"According to data of the European Commission (EC), the number of visa refusals decreased from 33.3% in 2011 to 2.03% in 2012. At the same time, the number of visa refusals by individual EU member states significantly decreased in 2012: Italy - from 8.49% to 4.94%, Belgium - from 7.17% to 4.38%, Estonia - from 4.37 to 2, 78% and France - from 1.99 to 0.78%," he said.

According to the EC statistic data, the total number of issued Schengen visas to Ukrainians increased by 173 thousand in 2012 and reached 1.28 million visas compared with 2011.

In addition, the proportion of multiple-entry visas exceeded figures of the previous year and amounted to 38.5 thousand (in 2011 - 35.5 thousand).

"The Foreign Ministry welcomes the positive dynamics of implementation of the agreement on visa facilitation by the EU for the approval of the list of documents that must be submitted by citizens of Ukraine to the EU consulates for the Schengen visas," Perebyinis said.
