Russia’s launch of the North Stream and the South Stream pipelines will seriously affect expediency of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.
"The European Union gave consent to the construction of the Nord Stream and the South Stream gas pipelines, therefore Ukraine will lose its serious trump card. Colossal Ukrainian transportation system will remain largely unused," he said during a meeting with U.S. Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister expressed regret that the EU stands by and does not support Kyiv in solving gas problems, despite the fact that Ukraine is the member of the European Energy Community.
