The tax on deposit accounts won’t be introduced in Ukraine in the near future, first vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Neither the National Bank nor the Government is seriously thinking to introduce this tax. We appreciate the trust of people, who invest their money in the banking system, most recently in the national currency. Of course, this process is inevitable, but our country is still not ready for this," Arbuzov said.

As a reminder, MP from the Party of Regions Yevhen Sihal offered the Parliament to amend the Tax Code and to introduce 25% tax on personal income derived from interest on current or deposit accounts in banks and non-banking institutions since January 1, 2014.
