Ukraine does not consider the issue of associated membership in the Customs Union, economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov said at the International Economic Forum of the CIS member states, ForUm correspondent in Moscow reports.
According to the minister, this issue is currently not discussed, moreover, the CU mechanisms do not provide for such a status.
He stressed that Ukraine is still continuing to study the issue of cooperation with the Customs Union. "Probably by the summer we will be ready to submit a detailed and comprehensive project of approach, coordination and cooperation on a range of mutually beneficial fields. It is important to focus on the objective economic prerequisites for us, and for the Customs Union," Prasolov said.
The minister highlighted that the CIS is a traditionally important direction of trade and economic cooperation for Ukraine, as the share of the Commonwealth in the foreign trade of Ukraine is 42%. "Mostly, this is products with high added value. Thus, more than 80% of our engineering product is exported to the CIS," he added.
