Today, agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk took part in the official meeting of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and President of Latvia Andris Berzins. After the talks of the Presidents, Mykola Prysiazhniuk met with agriculture minister of Latvia Mrs. Laimdota Straujuma.

During the meeting the ministers noted the constructive nature of the Ukrainian-Latvian cooperation in the sphere of agriculture and signed a protocol on intentions between the Agrarian Ministries of Ukraine and Latvia. This will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation, first of all, on veterinary and laboratory diagnosis, food safety and certification of food.

Prysiazhniuk also confirmed Ukraine's readiness to expand cooperation in land relations and fish economy.

The Ukrainian party is also interested to increase the presence of existing companies and to create new joint enterprises for the production of agricultural products both in Ukraine and in Latvia.
