Ukraine and Latvia have to work on further development of trade and economic cooperation, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during Ukrainian-Latvian talks in expanded format.
As the press service of the Ukrainian president informs, Yanukovych said that the countries are working on implementation of the program of economic bilateral cooperation for 2012-2013. He noted the positive trade dynamics between Ukraine and Latvia, and increase in turnover by 28%. "The first priority for the governments of both countries should be preservation of this positive trend," Yanukovych said.
The President expressed confidence that further expansion of cooperation in this area will contribute to the work of the Ukrainian-Latvian intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation, the next meeting of which will take place in Ukraine this year.
Head of state noted that another effective mechanism for cooperation should be the Ukrainian-Latvian business forum. "We do a lot in order to expand our cooperation in the financial sector, and to improve the investment climate in our countries," Yanukovych said.
