
The birth rate has increased in Kyiv in recent years, director of the health department of the Kyiv City State Administration Vitaly Mokhorev said at the board of the health department, ForUm correspondent reports.
"In 2012, as in previous years, the demographic situation was consistently positive. Last year, the population growth amounted to six thousand people in Kyiv," he said.
According to Mokhorev, 33 thousand 887 children were born in 2012, the total fertility rate was 12 promille (in Ukraine - 11.4).
In addition, according to the official, the infant mortality rate in the capital amounted to 5.9 ppm, which is lower than in Ukraine as a whole in the half.
