Preparations for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko pass flabbily, culture minister of Ukraine Leonid Novokhatko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Two years ago, the government approved a plan to prepare for the anniversary. But life has shown that preparations pass flabbily and inefficiently. Thus, the President issued the decree on additional measures to prepare for the celebration of the anniversary. I would not say that preparation has progressed after the adoption of this document," he said.
According to Novokhatko, the current leadership of the Culture Ministry and the President himself have taken the situation under control.
