Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make a two-day official visit to Tajikistan on March 17-18, a spokesperson for the Tajik Foreign Ministry reported.

"The official visit of Yanukovych to Dushanbe is scheduled for March 17-18," the spokesperson said.

"Yanukovych and Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon will hold bilateral talks in a close and expanded format, as a result of which a set of documents on economic, cultural and educational cooperation of the two countries is to be signed," the spokesperson noted.

The Ukrainian President paid his last visit to Tajikistan on September 2-3, 2011 to participate in the Council of the CIS presidents, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

The Tajik energy sector cooperates with Kharkiv-based Turboatom, Ukraine's largest manufacturer of turbine equipment. A third water wheel was delivered to Tajikistan's biggest hydropower station, Nurek, in October of 2012. Each water wheel costs almost 5 million dollar, including the cost of delivery.

The spokesperson said that Tajikistan hopes to draw Ukrainian investments in its economy and to have a certain amount of places for its students in Ukrainian universities.
