The Presidents of Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus are likely to meet in April to discuss Ukraine's accession to the Customs Union, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has told today a press conference in Kaniv, Cherkasy region.

He informed that during the recent talks with President Vladimir Putin on March 4, they discussed the format of work between Ukraine and the Customs Union.

According to Yanukovych, they agreed to continue this work not only at the level of the governments, but also with the involvement of the executive body of the Customs Union.
The President also noted that the next meeting is likely to be held with the participation of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan not later than in 1.5-2 months.

"We will discuss these issues and make the relevant decisions. That is, the format should remove the problems existing between countries in the implementation of trade transactions," he said.

Yanukovych noted that Ukraine lost approximately $ 5 billion turnover with Russia in the last year.

"We have to find a format of relations which would create incentives to increase turnover, create opportunities for the movement of goods, labor, etc. ... I definitely said that we are ready to join the provisions of the Customs Union if they are consistent with our international obligations and do not contradict the WTO rules," Viktor Yanukovych said.
