Ukraine needs efficient army, despite the fact that there are no contentious issues with the neighboring states, deputy defense minister Oleksandr Oliynyk told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, the transition to the contract-based army will allow Ukraine to be an effective military force with a high level of combat power. "Ukraine has no contentious issues with the neighboring countries, but there may be foreign conflicts, which are usually of unpredictable and very quick nature," Oliynyk said and added that another challenge of our time is terrorism.
"The armed forces should be able to localize these threats," he concluded.
