European Union Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger expects the reverse gas supplies to Ukraine through Slovakia to start next winter, he said in an interview with Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper.

"Today you have a chance to use reverse through Poland and Hungary. We are working to increase the number of ways that will enable you to receive gas from the LNG-terminal in the Mediterranean Sea and the Netherlands. Indeed, there was a problem with the fact that the government in Bratislava did not allow the reverse. But this is a single case," he noted.

According to Oettinger, he is in constant contact with the government of Slovakia.

"I expect the corridor of reverse gas transit through Slovakia will be open next winter," the European Commissioner concluded.
