Giving press conference in the Ukrainian House, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych told reporters what complicates the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports.

"I cite a simple example. Probably many of us have lived in the village house. I also lived for many years. Every year such a house is repaired, whitewashed ... This should be done every year, and every year you think: maybe I should build something new?  The same thing is about reforms. We have lost a lot of time. We did not conduct reforms for almost 20 years. Why it was so? There was a difficult political situation – such answer is given by our predecessors. All this led to the fact that we were in a very difficult situation," he said.

According to the President, conducting of reforms complicates the misunderstanding of their meaning on part of the performers. "It will take time to overcome old stereotypes ... to overcome the resistance of officials. It’s a complicated process. We need to have patience," he said.

At the same time, he acknowledged that the funds, needed to modernize the country, sometimes are used ineffectively. "Some people make money, while others use them ineffectively, steal, and others do harm to the state. Intentionally or not, let the people and the police draw conclusions. We do have problems as any other country, but I am glad that we are moving forward," the President said.
