Gas transportation system of Ukraine may be transferred to the management of the GTS consortium without changing the form of ownership, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov told Ukrainian reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday, ForUm correspondent reports.
“We consider quite possible to preserve Ukraine's ownership of the GTS and make a respective legislative decision to transfer the management of the GTS to a consortium, without changing the form of ownership,” he said.
According to him, the Russian party has been already preparing documents on such a bilateral gas consortium. "However, we paid attention to the fact that Ukrainian partners hold consultations with European colleagues on the sidelines of the EU-Ukraine summit on the possibility of returning to the idea of a trilateral gas consortium. This needs specifying," Zurabov stressed.
The ambassador said that reduction in Russian gas price for Ukraine is possible if both sides find an acceptable solution to the issue of the management of the Ukrainian GTS.
