Stationary sources remain the main atmospheric pollutant in Ukraine, specialist of the department on environmental monitoring of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Ukraine Liliya Kozak said during a round table, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to the expert, air emissions of stationary sources amounted to 4374.6 thousand tons in 2011, that is by 5.9% more then the previous year. "This is 63.6% of all emissions in the country," the expert explained.
As for the mobile sources, according to Kozak, their air emissions amounted to 2502.7 thousand tons during 2011.
Therefore, she said that the environmental legislation should use the norms of the European Union. "This will systematize the evaluation of emissions in Ukraine, bring it to the current level and gradually reduce the air pollution," the expert concluded.
