Ukrainian universities will soon be able to issue two types of diplomas - the state-recognized diploma and their own, education and science, youth and sports minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk told a briefing on February 25, ForUm correspondent reported.

In such a way the minister commented on the proposal of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to cancel state diplomas.

"I would permit universities to experiment and to issue their own diploma and the state-recognized diploma. That would be the best social research," he said and added that in any case it is not an issue of this year, possibly of the next one.

In addition, according to the minister, society perceives ambiguously the issue of denial of state-recognized diplomas. In particular, the older generation is afraid of such innovation. According to the minister, it is necessary to make the transition period.

As a reminder, the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov supported the recent initiative of higher education institutions to issue their own diplomas.
