Education and science, youth and sports minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk said that the restoration of the Youth and Sports Ministry of Ukraine is needed to give a higher status to series of sporting events.
"We need the agency to deal more actively with sports, given the huge plans for the European Championships in Athletics, the EuroBasket, and the application for the Olympic Games," he told a news conference, ForUm correspondent reports. The minister added that "when there are such huge projects on the horizon, we need to give them a higher status".
He also noted that the decree of the President of Ukraine and the changes in the state budget are needed to restore the Ministry. Earlier, in the course of communication with the citizens within the Dialogue with the country project, President Viktor Yanukovych said that he had decided to separate the Youth and Sports Ministry from the Education Ministry.
