Ukrainian universities earn about four billion 300 million UAH per year on training of foreign students under contract, education and science, youth and sports minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said during the press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
He said that as of January 1, 2013, 60 thousand 300 foreign students studied in Ukraine.
According to Tabachnyk, the number of students from Europe and North America studying in Ukraine increased by four thousand.
He noted that the number of Ukrainians studying abroad is several times less.
He also said that Ukrainians living in the border regions of the EU prefer to study in Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
According to Tabachnyk, a "brain drain" from Ukraine can not be solved by administrative or legislative methods. It is necessary to develop the quality of higher education in Ukraine.
