The European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties supported amendments to the agreement on visa regime simplification between Ukraine and the EU. According to the press service of the European Parliament, 39 MEPs voted in favor of this decision, three voted against and six abstained, the press service of the Cabinet reports.

"The changes are intended to facilitate the issuance of short term visas. The amended agreement simplifies the documentation requirements for the broader category of applicants, including representatives of civil society organizations, journalists and persons participating in international exhibitions, conferences and seminars," the statement said.

This agreement also provides for cancellation of the visa fee of 70 EUR for specified categories of persons. In addition, the provisions for multiple entry visas are being clarified.

"Citizens with biometric passports will have advantages," the European Parliament stressed.

The decision may be taken in March or April. The agreement will enter into force on the first day of the second month after the last participant ratifies it and reports on it to the other side.
