Polish President Bronisław Komorowski stresses the importance of today's meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič on the eve of the EU-Ukraine Summit, to be held on February 25.

"We have met on the eve of the summit in Brussels. This summit is very important, as it starts a cycle of events and processes, which will lead to significant event - the summit of "Eastern Partnership" in Vilnius," Komorowski said after the meeting.

According to him, today’s meeting is very important as the EU begins the process of making decisions on the signing and subsequent ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

"Consequently, we met at a time when the fate of the Ukraine’s huge efforts related to the negotiations and the initialing of the Association Agreement hangs in the balance,"  Komorowski said.

"These efforts are also the effect of personal involvement and work of Mr. President Yanukovych," he stressed.

According to President Komorowski, Poland and Slovakia want to help Ukraine "get the desired final result of signing and then ratifying of the Agreement on Association in Vilnius in November of this year".

The Polish President noted the efforts of Ukraine, put to implement reforms. At the same time he emphasized the need for fulfilling the requirements, necessary for the European integration of Ukraine.
