Ukraine needs to change the situation around immunoprophylaxis, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Yesterday I had a very useful consultation with the public on how we should restore confidence in the immunoprophylaxis of population and ensure the unconditional quality and safety of vaccination. The real situation with a level of biosecurity in the country is awful. We risk losing "an immune shield of the nation," Azarov said.
According to him, the vaccination is vital, and the vaccination scheme for the country of 45 million people needs to be improved.
"There were proposals to create a state-owned enterprise for the production of all necessary vaccines. We need to improve greatly skills and responsibilities of immunologists, as well as the conditions of storage and use of vaccines. We have to introduce the insurance of vaccination," the Prime Minister stressed.
According to him, social organizations strongly expressed the wish to introduce strict rules of commenting and explaining topics on immunoprophylaxis only by immunologists.
Azarov instructed deputy Prime Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko together with the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Finance Ministry, Health Ministry, National Academies of Sciences and Medicine to create an interdepartmental working group and to solve this issue.
