Ukrainian government calls on the Parliament to resume work, foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara told a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We call on the Parliament to resume work. The events happening today are against the rules and the Constitution. Only the productive work of the Parliament can influence the continuation of reforms to improve the lives of the Ukrainian people, and to enhance European integration," the minister said.

Kozhara expressed belief that the blocking of work of the Verkhovna Rada harms preparations for the EU-Ukraine summit.

"It is clear that the blocking of the Parliament by opposition harms preparing for the EU-Ukraine summit. The government has submitted to the Parliament documents, needed to complete the first phase of the Action Plan on visa liberalization. We, the government, hope that it will be approved before the summit, but to date, it looks like they will not," he said.
