There are about 1.4 million square meters of potholes on the Ukrainian roads, infrastructure minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kozak told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"23 asphalt plants are working on the territory, where the weather allows doing it," he said adding that as soon as the weather gets better, about 90 plants will work.

The minister said that only 2.5 thousand km of roads out of 170 thousand meet the international standards.

"We need to amend the law. In addition, we should not only build, but also protect our roads from the barbaric use," Kozak stressed.

According to him, after the law on expanding the powers of state inspection on surface transportation entries into force, which is now being developed, we will be able to protect the country's roads."So I think that the changes to regulations and the measures, which we are going to take, will allow us to achieve better quality of our roads," the minister summed up.
