During 2013, the Justice Ministry will perform the gender-legal expert review of six basic laws in the spheres of science, culture, health care, labor remuneration and assignment of pensions for special services to Ukraine for observation of the principle of equality of women and men in those laws, the Justice Ministry press service informed.

“Until the year end, an expert review of basic laws is planned “On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities, “On Culture,” “Principles of Ukrainian Legislation on Health Care” and “Prevention of Spread of Diseases, Caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the Legal and Social Protection of People, who Live with HIV,” “On Payment for Labor,” and “On Pensions for Special Services to Ukraine,” a statement reads, UKRINFORM reports.

The Justice Ministry informs that the gender appraisal is carried out with the aim of making the national legislation closer to international standards of living. In the process of expert appraisal, the national legislation is subject to complex studies for its compliance with international-legal acts on human rights concerning observation of a principle for ensuring equal rights and possibilities for women and men.
