As of the end of 2012, the Ukrainian population amounted to 45 million 553 thousand people, which is by 80.6 thousand people less than the year before, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported.
The population of cities in Ukraine remained almost unchanged, as only rural population decreased and amounted to 14 million 174.4 thousand people.
Last year 520.7 thousand people were born in Ukraine, 663.1 thousand people died, a total natural decline in the population was 142.4 thousand. At the same time, a migration gain was recorded last year in the amount of 61.8 thousand people, so 76.4 thousand people entered Ukraine and 14.5 thousand people left the country.
