On the day of commemorating the combatants in other countries, President Viktor Yanukovych laid flowers to Kyiv memorial to Ukrainian citizens, who died in Afghanistan, President’s press service informs.
The ceremony was also attended by speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov, chairman of the Ukrainian Union of Afghan Veterans Serhiy Chervonopisky, members of the public.
Participants in the ceremony paid tribute to the dead with a minute of silence.
