Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov met with the founders of the European-Ukrainian Business Federation, Michael Kraus, Cornelius Granig, Gabriel Lansky and Bernhard Krumpl, the Cabinet’s press service informs.

The meeting was also attended by economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov, Ukraine's Ambassador to Austria Andriy Berezny and head of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information Technology Volodymyr Semynozhenko.

The organization, which was established by reputable Austrian businessmen and lawyers with the assistance of the Ukrainian Embassy in Austria, was registered in Vienna (Austria) on February 14. It is aimed at promoting the interests of Austrian and other European companies in Ukraine and Ukrainian companies in Austria and EU countries, Ukrinform reports.

Mykola Azarov supported the EUBF's intention to intensify cooperation with Ukraine at a practical economic level and improve communication about the conditions of doing business in Ukraine. The head of government proposed that the EUBF, together with the Ukrainian government, soon develop a joint program of multilevel communication in various economic branches, humanitarian and legal spheres, which can already be implemented in 2013.

The Prime Minister said that the course for association with the European Union is strategic for Ukraine. At the same time, association is seen as a "roadmap" of transformations within the country, which will bring it to EU standards.

The most important component in this movement is the structural modernization of the economy and the increase in welfare. Therefore, the Ukrainian government is implementing a new economic policy aimed at developing domestic production and consumption and supporting Ukrainian exports.

"The mutual promotion of interests, which is a goal for the European-Ukrainian Business Federation, can play a very important role in addressing these challenges," the prime minister said.
At the same time, the prime minister said that Austria could take a more active stance on the European integration of Ukraine, and in this regard, he expressed hope that the established European-Ukrainian Business Federation would be an important tool in achieving this goal.
