300-350 children die from infectious diseases in Ukraine annually, chief specialist of the Healthcare Ministry in child infectious diseases Serhiy Kramarev told a round table discussion "Current issues of immunization in Ukraine", ForUm correspondent reports.

"300-350 children die from infectious diseases in Ukraine annually. Of them, 130-200 are infants. There is vaccine against most infectious diseases in Ukraine. If the infants were vaccinated on time, there would be no such sad consequences," he said.

At the same time, according to the deputy World Health Organization representative and head of the WHO department in Ukraine Ighor Pokanevych, about 10 million children worldwide die from diseases, which could be prevented by vaccination, annually.

In turn, commenting on the effects of vaccination for children, head of clinical trials and monitoring department of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine Valery Vasiliev said: "All the fatal cases are investigated by rapid response teams. The cause-and-effect relationship was established. As it turned out, they were all recorded in different regions of Ukraine using different series of vaccines with different time intervals. This confirms that these cases do not depend on drug quality".
