Yesterday’s talks became an important step in strengthening the friendship and partnership relations between Ukraine and Turkmenistan, and the significant increase in political dialogue at all levels confirmed once again the mutual interest of our countries in expanding fields of cooperstion, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Ashgabat after the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow, ForUm learned from the press service of the President.
According to Yanukovych, during the talks the parties noted the common views of two states on further development of international relations in the world and the region of Central Asia and the deepening of the Ukrainian-Turkmen cooperation in various fields. They also talked about cooperation in the financial, energy, military-technical, inter-regional and humanitarian fields and the increase in participation of the Ukrainian companies in the implementation of large-scale projects for industrial and social construction in Turkmenistan.
The President stressed that the Ukrainian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation will play an important role in the development of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Turkmenistan.
According to Yanukovych, the parties reached an agreement on the establishment of a trade house of Ukraine in Ashgabat and a trade house of Turkmenistan in Kyiv, which will be the important bilateral mechanism in the trade and economic sphere.
In turn, Berdimuhamedov noted that fruitful negotiations on various areas of cooperation were held during the visit of Yanukovych to Turkmenistan.
