Development of the Ukrainian economy is impossible without the formation and use of labor potential as a major factor of production, deputy social policy minister Lidia Drozdova told a round table discussion "Development of the labor potential as a factor of economic growth in Ukraine", ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the deputy minister, all the developed countries has the priority to develop quality human and labor potential of the high level of general and vocational education, its relevance to the needs of the economy, having high culture of labor, inclination to innovations, mobility and ability to adapt to emerging new conditions of employment.

The official noted that the issue of formation of labor potential, which meets modern requirements, is extremely important for Ukraine, both in general and for individual industries and regions. "The imbalance of supply and demand in the labor market, the large number of vacancies under considerable unemployment, poor quality of training are few of the core issues," she said.

Drozdova continued a "problem list" with structural mismatch of vocational training to the current needs of the economy, the lack of more or less reasonable forecasts of future needs of industries as well as the lack of economic mechanisms to ensure consistency between demands of labor market for a workforce and its skill structure.
