Energy and coal industry minister Eduard Stavytsky said Ukraine doesn’t ask the EU for assistance in solving gas issue with Russia.
"The question of asking for assistance is not on the agenda now. We are in talks, and I would not dramatize the situation," the minister said on the air of ICTV channel.
As reported, Russia's Gazprom issued a USD 7 billion bill to Naftogaz of Ukraine for its failure to import an agreed amount of natural gas in 2012, based on the contractual "take or pay" principle.
At the same time, Naftogaz said that the company had paid in full for the gas received from the Russian gas company under previous invoices.
