If the opposition continues blocking the rostrum of the Parliament and does not allow starting the second session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation, the parliamentary faction of the Party of Regions may agree to hold re-elections, MP from the Party of Regions faction Volodymyr Oliynyk said on the air of ICTV channel.

"If you protect the Article 84 of the Constitution, it is good, but do not violate the Article 83, which says that the first Tuesday of February shall be the beginning of the session of the Verkhovna Rada," he said.

"We are strongly against the power unblocking. We’ll not let the whole world to mock at our state. What should we do in this situation? If this groundless blocking continues... we are for the early elections. This is our position. Let other deputies come, let them not block the Verkhovna Rada work," the politician said.

"However, we will insist on the majority system of elections," Oliynyk stressed. According to him, the party electoral system is not effective.

"The party system has showed itself as absolutely ineffective one. When a single-mandate deputy is elected, he bears responsibility not to the party, but to his voters. Voters do not see those, who hide behind the first five leaders, and those candidates are totally irresponsible," he said.

MP noted that the majority system has proven effective in many European Parliaments.

"The current confrontation in the Parliament doesn’t do good. Parliament must act in the interests of the state," Oliynik concluded.
