The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) introduced temporary restrictions on the import of meat products suppied by Ukrainian LLC Fenix.
The experts revealed high concentration of ractopamine in frozen pork. As it is known, since February 11, the Rosselkhoznadzor suspended supply of pork, beef, pork and beef byproducts and meat products from them from the U.S. to Russia. This is just related to ractopamine in meat supplied from the U.S. The Rosselkhoznadzor allegedly believes that Fenix imports meat from the U.S. to Russia.
According to a source in Rosselkhoznadzor, out of 54 tests of Fenix products, high concentration of ractopamine was detected in 47.
Press secretary of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine Anatoly Osadchy informed that the problem has already been discussed in the negotiations with the Rosselkhoznadzor. The Ukrainian meat enterprises expect Russian commission with additional checks.
