Foreign minister Leonid Kozhara predicts that the law prohibiting homosexual discrimination will be adopted in Ukraine.

"The issue of homosexuals causes strong controversy in Ukraine, but our government has already prepared the relevant law and soon will submit it to the Parliament ... without the law, which prohibits homosexual discrimination, we cannot move towards visa liberalization. I think that strivings for further integration with the EU will outweigh the resistance, and the law will be passed," the minister said in interview.

According to him, one of the conditions of the European Union for the introduction of a visa-free regime is amending the Ukrainian Labor Code with the new law, which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The minister said that in Ukraine there are opponents of the adoption of the anti-discrimination law, in particular, the Orthodox Church.

However, according to Kozhara, such laws were adopted in Moldova, despite the discussion in society, and in Poland, despite the strong influence of the Catholic Church.

In this regard, he believes that the law prohibiting homosexual discrimination will be passed.
