Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed the government and Ukrzaliznytsia railway company to study the issue of geographic expansion of the Viking project.
During the meeting with representatives of the business community in Lithuania, Yanukovych noted that the project began in 2003, when he was Prime Minister of Ukraine.
The President stressed that more than 55 thousand containers have been carried for 10 years of the Viking project, noting a significant increase in traffic in recent years.
General Director of JSC "Lithuanian Railways" Stasis Dailydka, in turn, congratulated on the 10th anniversary of the project. He noted that "Viking" is successfully developing. "The economic effect is outstanding, this project is developing," Dailydka said.
