
Ukraine and Lithuania in the near future have to reach a trade turnover of USD 1.5 billion a year, President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine said after the meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, Ukrinform reports.
"A trade turnover of $1.5 billion is the challenge we have set ourselves for the near future," the presidential press service quoted the head of state as saying.
The president said that the meeting covered trade, economic, energy and humanitarian issues, as well as set priorities for the future.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that the road map for the development of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania for 2013-2014 will determine all these areas of cooperation.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, during the meeting the parties noted a significant improvement in implementation of the project Viking.
"We see our common steps in transport and energy. We will expand our cooperation," he said.
The head of state paid special attention to cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in the international arena, particularly in the frames of Ukraine's OSCE chairmanship in 2013.
