A modern blood center will be set up in Kyiv, head of the KCSA Oleksandr Popov said during a working visit to Kyiv City Blood Center, ForUm correspondent reports.

"I think the construction of the blood center will be completed in the second half of 2013. According to preliminary calculations, the object worth about 64 million UAH," he said.

According to Popov, the first allocation from the city budget reached 11 million. The project will be funded in full in the next year.

Popov stressed that the center construction is important as currently the blood products can’t be produced in Kyiv because of outdated technologies and substandard sanitary conditions.

"We have a one-year supply of blood products, but would like to make drugs from plasma in Kyiv as well," the head of capital administration said.
